CIPTA Awards 2023 Ceremony

His Royal Highness Prince Doctor Haji Al-Muhtadee Billah ibni His Majesty Sultan Haji Hassanal Bolkiah Mu'izzaddin Waddaulah, the Crown Prince and Senior Minister at the Prime Minister's Office, and Pro-Chancellor of Universiti Teknologi Brunei, UTB, graced the Duli Pengiran Muda Mahkota Creative, Innovative, Product and Technological Advancement CIPTA Awards Ceremony, 2023. The competition plays an important role in creating a platform to promote and reward innovation, contribute to economic growth, and solve global challenges. The ceremony took place on 8th June morning, at the International Convention Centre in Berakas.
Upon arrival, His Royal Highness as the Patron of the Duli Pengiran Muda Mahkota CIPTA Award, was greeted by Yang Berhormat Datin Seri Setia Doctor Dayang Hajah Romaizah binti Haji Mohd Salleh, Minister of Education; and Datin Paduka Professor Doctor Hajah Zohrah binti Haji Sulaiman, Vice Chancellor UTB.
The recitation of Surah Al-Fatihah and doa selamat was led by Yang Berhormat Pehin Orang Kaya Paduka Seri Utama Dato Paduka Seri Setia Haji Awang Salim bin Haji Besar.
The Vice Chancellor of UTB in her welcoming address, among others, said that UTB supports research and development consistently as a mechanism to promote innovation and creativity within and outside the country.
The theme of CIPTA 2023, Innovation for Sustainable Development Goals SDGs was developed in response to the SDG Agenda 2030, in line with Wawasan Brunei 2035.
The Crown Prince CIPTA Award competition 2023 is in line with the development of scientific research and innovation culture in ASEAN countries.
His Royal Highness presented the prizes to the winners. No project won the Creating New Product, Process or Technology category.
The project titled "A Sustainable and Immersive Experience of Simulation Training Platform in Agriculture using Extended Reality (XR) Technology" won second place for the Modifying Existing Product, Process or Technology category.
However, there was no winner for the Creating New or Modifying Existing Product, Process or Technology for Young Inventors category.
The "Mamoru: Accident Prevention Motorcycle Helmet" project won third place in the Smart Junior Competition Category.
The "BacColl: A Solution for Halal Collagen in Industries" project won second place in the ASEAN category for New Invention and Innovation.
The TE-ALUM project came in third in the ASEAN category for Young Inventors.
His Royal Highness received a pesambah. The CIPTA Award competition recognises excellence in innovation and encourages the creation of cutting-edge technology.
His Royal Highness the Crown Prince's presence reflects His Royal Highness' care and attention for the development of design and innovation.
