MELBOURNE, AUSTRALIA
His Majesty Sultan Haji Hassanal Bolkiah Mu'izzaddin Waddaulah ibni Al- Marhum Sultan Haji Omar 'Ali Saifuddien Sa'adul Khairi Waddien, Sultan and Yang Di- Pertuan of Brunei Darussalam in a titah expresses belief that there are many more opportunities for cooperation, especially in trade and investment, in further strengthening the much-valued relationship between Brunei Darussalam and Australia. His Majesty made the titah during a Luncheon hosted by Her Excellency the Honourable Linda Dessau AC VCO, Governor of Victoria held at Government House, Melbourne. His Majesty in the titah expresses pleasure to be in Australia once again, particularly on His Majesty's first visit to Melbourne. In the titah, His Majesty highlighted Melbourne as home to many of Australia's best-known landmarks, with an outstanding reputation as one of the world's most livable cities. His Majesty is also appreciative of the Victoria State Government for welcoming Brunei students who are continuing their studies in Australia.
His Majesty arrived in Melbourne last night to continue the State Visit to Australia. Accompanying His Majesty the Sultan and Yang Di-Pertuan of Brunei Darussalam was His Royal Highness Prince 'Abdul Mateen.
Upon arrival at Government House, His Majesty was welcomed by Her Excellency the Honourable Linda Dessau AC VCO, Governor of Victoria and Mr. Anthony Howard. His Majesty was then invited to sign a Visitor's Book.
In the titah, His Majesty underscored that the direct flights between Bandar Seri Begawan and Melbourne have not only facilitated travel from Brunei Darussalam to Australia, but also instrumental to Brunei's food supply especially during the COVID-19 pandemic. Before leaving Government House, His Majesty was bade farewell by Her Excellency the Honourable Governor of Victoria and Mr. Anthony Howard.
