​His Majesty Sultan Haji Hassanal Bolkiah Mu'izzaddin Waddaulah ibni Al-Marhum Sultan Haji Omar 'Ali Saifuddien Sa'adul Khairi Waddien, Sultan and Yang Di-Pertuan of Brunei Darussalam yesterday afternoon received in audience His Excellency Haitham Al-Ghais, Secretary General of the Organization of the Petroleum Exporting Countries, OPEC who is currently in Brunei Darussalam for a four-day working visit.  The Audience Ceremony took place at the Istana Nurul Iman.

Accompanying His Excellency at the Audience Ceremony were Yang Berhormat Pehin Datu Lailaraja Retired Major General Dato Paduka Seri Haji Awang Halbi bin Haji Mohd Yussof, Minister at the Prime Minister's Office and Second Minister of Defence; and Dato Seri Paduka Awang Haji Matsatejo bin Sokiaw, Deputy Minister, Department of Energy at the Prime Minister's Office.

During the Audience Ceremony, His Majesty and His Excellency discussed opportunities to enhance cooperation between Brunei Darussalam and OPEC in the field of Oil and Gas. Discussions also focused on regional and international issues of mutual importance to both parties.
