A bride has left people shocked after sharing how her husband had asked her for a divorce after she refused to have sex with him on their wedding night.

According to this woman, she had slept with her then-husband before their wedding night, but had declined on that particular evening, as she had felt too "tired" for any intimacy.

In what many have regarded as a lucky escape for her, he reacted furiously and told her he wanted to get a divorce when they woke up the following morning.

They hadn't even been married 24 hours at this point and ended up separating just two weeks later.

The woman, whose name is Rachel, opened up about her ordeal on the Australian radio show Hot Nights with Abbie Chatfield, leaving many listeners horrified.

Rachel, who had phoned in following a request for stories about super short relationships, revealed: "I was married for not even 24 hours before my husband wanted a divorce, and we separated two weeks later."

When the astonished hosts ask her what exactly had happened, Rachel continued: "The night of the wedding, we went out, and when we got back to the hotel room, unfortunately, I didn't give him what he wanted."

Rachel went on to clarify that they'd had sex together previously, but that night she had just been too tired and so wasn't in the mood. She added that her husband's angry reaction had left her feeling "miserable", and that she "couldn't wait" to get away from him.

Host Abbie blasted the groom as "revolting" and an "awful, disgusting man", before noting that it was actually very common for couples to not feel up to any post-wedding bedroom antics due to feeling exhausted. After a clip of the phone call was shared on social media, many fellow listeners made their own feelings on the matter known, with many showing support and good wishes for Rachel.

One person commented: "Absolutely dodged a bullet".

Another remarked: "Men like him deserve to stay single."

A third stated: "You don't owe sex to anyone not even your husband."

Recalling their own wedding night, a fourth person wrote: "My husband cried about how much he loved me then fell asleep while I removed 83 bobby pins from my hair."
