Local Company Denied a Charge of Smuggling Fuel

A Brunei registered company and its representative have denied the charge of smuggling diesel fuel out of the country yesterday.
The case has been fixed by the Magistrate's Court for trial from June 27 to 30 this year.
ADBS Sendirian Berhad and fifty-four-year-old Haji Ibrahim bin Haji Damit, are alleged to have instructed their driver to illegally export 84 litres of diesel fuel inside an additional fuel tank on a Mitsubishi Fuso bus from Brunei to Miri through the Sungai Tujoh Control Post at 5.20pm on June 26, 2013.
The penalty for such an offence carries a minimum fine of BND$10,000 and a maximum of BND$500,000 for the first offence, and a subsequent offence carries a minimum fine of BND$20,000 and a maximum of BND$500,000 or minimum imprisonment of six months and a maximum of five years, or both.
