State Polls: Chow Sworn In As Penang CM For Second Term

Chow Kon Yeow has been sworn in as the Penang Chief Minister for a second term on Sunday (Aug 13).

 

He was sworn in at 9.38am before Yang di-Pertua Negri Tun Ahmad Fuzi Abdul Razak who handed over the letter of appointment to Chow at Seri Mutiara, the governors official residence.

 

In taking the oath, Chow said he will fulfill his duties in the position as Chief Minister with the aim that all his efforts will reflect his loyalty to Penang and will preserve, protect and defend the constitution of the state.

 

He was joined by his wife Tan Lean Kee and among others, DAP chairman Lim Guan Eng was also present.

 

The state Pakatan Harapan chairman announced a two-thirds majority win for the unity coalition in Penang in the state elections on Saturday (Aug 12) night.

 

Chow was elected Chief Minister in 2018 and now will begin his second term.

 

On Saturday (Aug 12), he said the Pakatan Harapan-Barisan Nasional unity coalition had won a total of 29 out of 40 seats in the state.
