77 Times Khatam Al-Quran Ceremony

His Majesty Sultan Haji Hassanal Bolkiah Mu'izzaddin Waddaulah ibni Al-Marhum Sultan Haji Omar 'Ali Saifuddien Sa'adul Khairi Waddien, Sultan and Yang Di-Pertuan of Brunei Darussalam and Her Majesty Duli Raja Isteri Pengiran Anak Hajah Saleha binti Al-Marhum Pengiran Pemancha Pengiran Anak Haji Mohamed Alam graced the 77 Times Khatam Al-Quran Ceremony by Mukim and Village Consultative Council Members as well as schools and Higher Education Institution Students Nationwide in conjunction with His Majesty the Sultan and Yang Di-Pertuan of Brunei Darussalam's 77th Birthday celebration 2023. The ceremony took place this afternoon at Istana Nurul Iman.
Upon arrival, His Majesty and Her Majesty Duli Raja Isteri were greeted by;
- Yang Amat Mulia Pengiran Indera Setia Diraja Sahibul Karib Pengiran Anak Haji Idris bin Pengiran Maharaja Lela Pengiran Muda Abdul Kahar, Yang Di- Pertua of Adat Istiadat Negara;
- Yang Berhormat Pehin Udana Khatib Dato Paduka Seri Setia Ustaz Haji Awang Badaruddin bin Pengarah Dato Paduka Haji Awang Othman, Minister Of Religious Affairs;
- Yang Berhormat Dato Seri Setia Doctor Awang Haji Mohammad Isham bin Haji Jaafar, Minister Of Health;
- Yang Berhormat Dato Seri Setia Awang Haji Ahmaddin bin Haji Abdul Rahman, Minister Of Home Affairs;
- Yang Berhormat Datin Seri Setia Doctor Dayang Hajah Romaizah binti Haji Mohd Salleh, Minister Of Education;
- Yang Berhormat Pehin Datu Seri Maharaja Dato Paduka Seri Setia Doktor Ustaz Haji Awang Abdul Aziz bin Juned, the State Mufti;
- Yang Amat Mulia Pengiran Penggawa Laila Bentara Istiadat Diraja Dalam Istana, Pengiran Haji Alauddin bin Pengiran Paduka Tuan Pengiran Haji Abu Bakar, Grand Chamberlain as well as their respective spouses.
Also in attendance were His Majesty's sons, daughters and sisters,
- His Royal Highness Prince Haji Al- Muhtadee Billah, the Crown Prince and Senior Minister at the Prime Minister's Office and Her Royal Highness Paduka Seri Pengiran Anak Isteri Pengiran Anak Sarah;
- His Royal Highness Prince 'Abdul Malik and Yang Amat Mulia Pengiran Anak Isteri Pengiran Raabi'atul 'Adawiyyah;
- Her Royal Highness Princess Hajah Rashidah Sa'adatul Bolkiah;
- Her Royal Highness Princess Hajah Majeedah Nuurul Bolkiah;
- Her Royal Highness Princess Hajah Masna;
- Her Royal Highness Princess Hajah Amal Umi Kalthum Al-Islam, as well as other members of the Royal Family.
The ceremony commenced with the reading of surah Al-Fatihah led by the State Mufti. The reading of Khatam Al-Quran was led by Awang Abdul Matin bin Zulnorein, a Youth Tilawah Al-Quran Scheme student.
One Thousand Seven Hundred and Eight participants took part in the ceremony. The participants include Mukim and Village Consultative Council members from the four districts comprising Adult Males, Adult Females and Youths selected to represent the mukim and village including students from Sultan Haji Hassanal Bolkiah Tahfiz Al-Quran Institute and the Youth Tilawah Al-Quran Scheme.
The ceremony was also participated by children aged 12 and below representing Religious Schools under the Ministry of Religious Affairs which are Arabic and Al-Falah Schools, Religious Schools, Khatam Al- Quran Scheme aged 10 and below, Yayasan Sultan Haji Hassanal Bolkiah and the Youth Tilawah Al-Quran Scheme as well as school students nationwide under the Ministry of Education and Higher Education Institutions.
The ceremony is the citizens' supplication to Allah Subhanahu Wata'ala to further strengthen His Majesty's leadership in ruling and leading the country.
Officers and religious teachers from the Islamic Studies Department recited the Takhtim.
Followed by the reading of tahlil by officers from the Mosque Affairs Department. Doa Khatam was read Awang Muhamad Adam Khairuddin bin Abdullah Muhamad Hassanuddin, a Youth Tilawah Al-Quran Scheme student.
The Dikir Marhaban was presented by the officers from the Mosque Affairs Department as well as officers and religious teachers from the Islamic Studies Department. Doa selamat was read by the State Mufti. The ceremony is in line with His Majesty's aspiration to encourage citizens to always endear themselves to Al-Quran and internalise its verses.
