In its latest bulletin, the said Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA) spotted Typhoon Hanna moving west-northwestward and was last located 455 kilometers (km) east-northeast of Itbayat, Batanes.
"Hanna's speed may slow as she leaves our Philippine Area of Responsibility (PAR), and we expect her to be almost stationary as it leaves the country," PAGASA weather specialist Veronica Torres said.
"It will weaken around Wednesday (Sept. 6) or Thursday (Sept. 7) and will be in the Tropical Depression (TD) category," she added.
"Hanna," PAGASA said, was traveling at 15 kilometers per hour (kph) with maximum sustained winds of 130 kph near the center and gustiness of up to 160 kph.
Meanwhile, PAGASA said those residing in coastal and mountainous areas such as Batanes, Babuyan Islands, Ilocos Region, Cordillera Administrative Region (CAR), Nueva Vizcaya, Zambales, Pampanga, Bataan, Aurora, Bulacan, Metro Manila, Calabarzon (Cavite, Laguna, Batangas, Rizal, Quezon), Mimaropa (Oriental Mindoro, Occidental Mindoro, Marinduque, Romblon, Palawan), Bicol Region, Western Visayas, and the northern portion of Eastern Visayas may experience severe winds and "gusty conditions."
PAGASA said "Hanna" may leave PAR in the afternoon or evening of Sept. 4.
