His Majesty also attended a Bilateral Meeting with His Excellency Phạm Minh Chính, Prime Minister of the Socialist Republic of Viet Nam. The meeting was held at the Jakarta Convention Centre, Republic of Indonesia. Accompanying His Majesty was His Royal Highness Prince 'Abdul Mateen.

 Diplomatic relations between Brunei Darussalam and the Socialist Republic of Viet Nam were established on 29th February 1992, in which both countries cooperate extensively in the areas of trade, energy, education, aquaculture and people-to-people exchanges. During the meeting, His Majesty and His Excellency, among other things, highlighted the positive development of cooperation between Brunei Darussalam and the Socialist Republic of Viet Nam, especially in four areas namely oil and gas, chemical industry, Halal products and people-to-people exchanges.

 Aside from this, His Majesty and His Excellency looked forward to deepening the relationship of both countries including through the advancement of cooperation in energy and food security.
