SPAIN
Police in Spain have once again reminded people to not eat Tesco’s meal deal ‘paella’ sandwich because it is ‘not good’.
In a message to celebrate national paella day, the Guardia civil force encouraged Spaniards to enjoy the iconic dish but not with ‘those things they sell out there’.
They said in a tweet: ‘Celebrate it with one… but the good ones.
‘Not those things they sell out there.’
Paella is a rice dish from Valencia, usually served with meat, seafood and vegetables.
But Tesco decided to stick the continental meal between two slices of bread ten years ago, and have been paying the price ever since.
Faithful Brits have rushed to defend the supermarket giant, insisting it is a sign of ‘ingenuity’.
‘A triumph of British ingenuity, there is nothing we can’t make bland. We’ll do biriyani next,’ Harry Robertson commented.
‘This is revenge for when Spanish people plonk a massive omelette in between bread and call it a sandwich,’ Ben added.
But others have joined forces with the civil guard, calling it ‘dog slop’.
‘Take it from La Guardia Civil, folks. Do not buy the dog slop paella from Tesco,’ one account said.
Another account added; ‘Another British crime against food.’
