​His Majesty Sultan Haji Hassanal Bolkiah Mu'izzaddin Waddaulah ibni Al-Marhum Sultan Haji Omar 'Ali Saifuddien Sa'adul Khairi Waddien, Sultan and Yang Di-Pertuan of Brunei Darussalam in a titah consents to the amendment to the Compulsory Education Act, Chapter 211, to further strengthen childhood early education as well as consents to the subjects of Technology, Engineering and Arts in the STEAM component be made as one of the core choice subjects. His Majesty believes that with policy changes and much bigger expectations on the teaching workforce, it is now time for relevant parties to review and streamline the Teachers Service Scheme, SPG. His Majesty made the titah at the ceremony in conjunction with the 33rd Teachers' Day celebration 2023, 23rd September morning. His Majesty in the titah says this year's Teachers' Day Celebration theme, Quality Teachers, Drivers of Education Transformation, refers to the role of teachers as drivers of future progress.​
