A man has shared the ‘comedy gold’ moment a pigeon crashed ‘full pelt’ into his head as he walked to the shops.

CCTV footage shows Michael Speirs strolling to his local convenience store in Nottingham when the bird collides with him mid-flight.

It crash-lands then waddles off ‘a little dizzy’ but seemingly uninjured, leaving Mr Speirs rubbing his head as he realises what just happened.

The shop owner, Raj Rasaliam and Mr Speirs then watched the CCTV footage and after very much seeing the funny side of the incident decided to share it with others.

‘It was like being whacked full pelt with a feathered pillow,’ Mr Speirs told the BBC.

‘When I saw the footage back, I thought it was comedy gold and too good not to share. What are the chances of this ever happening and having footage?

‘The pigeon was fine, just a little dizzy.’

Laughing, the presenter wiped away tears and said: ‘When you’re watching it, you know you’re not supposed to laugh and then it makes you laugh even more.’

‘The pigeon just comes too and saunters off,’ co-presenter Ben Thompson added, before asking producers to play it again, to which Naga begged: ‘Please.’

In other pigeon news, a landlord who gave his tenants four weeks to move out of an east London flat turned up at the property to find a flock of around 40 of the birds had taken their place – and extensively redecorated.

The pigeons moved into the property after the evictees left a patio door ajar, and their droppings landed on almost every surface, leaving the owner with a £15,000 bill.

Kitchen worktops, sofas, window sills, carpets and clothes are all covered with crusty guano, resulting in a scene that looks like a bizarre modern art installation.
