Wayne Rooney rejected an offer to join Chinese Super League team Beijing Guoan at the start of the season, the club's honorary chairman has told Sports Night Talks.
Rooney, 31, has lost his regular starting place in the Manchester United side this season and has been linked with a switch to China.
However, honorary Beijing Guoan chairman Luo Ning said: "We indeed made an approach for Rooney at the beginning of the season but he's informed us that he wants to stay in Manchester United.
"Rooney says he'll keep playing in the Premier League as long as his health allows. We even met with his agent."
Former Shanghai SIPG manager Sven-Goran Eriksson, who was sacked and replaced by Andre Villas-Boas last week, recently ruled out a move for Rooney but told The Sun he is "the type of player the [Chinese] league will be after."
Rooney has previously said he does not see himself playing for any Premier League club other than United or boyhood club Everton in the future.
