​His Majesty Sultan Haji Hassanal Bolkiah Mu'izzaddin Waddaulah ibni Al-Marhum Sultan Haji Omar 'Ali Saifuddien Sa'adul Khairi Waddien, Sultan and Yang Di-Pertuan of Brunei Darussalam, arrived in San Francisco, United States of America to attend the Asia-Pacific Economic Leaders' Meeting, AELM which will be held on the 15th until 17th of November 2023. Accompanying His Majesty was His Royal Highness Prince 'Abdul Mateen. The AELM will be chaired by His Excellency Joseph R. Biden Jr., President of the United States as the APEC Chairman for 2023. Discussions are expected to include sustainability, climate, just energy transitions, interconnectedness and building inclusive and resilient economies. Present at the San Francisco International Airport to greet His Majesty were Yang Berhormat Dato Seri Setia Awang Haji Erywan bin Pehin Datu Pekerma Jaya Haji Mohd. Yusof, Second Minister of Foreign Affairs and His Excellency Dato Paduka Haji Serbini bin Ali, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Brunei Darussalam to the United States of America.

Upon arrival, His Majesty was welcomed by the Assistant Chief of Protocol, United States Department of State. Upon arrival at the hotel, His Majesty was greeted by Yang Berhormat Dato Seri Setia Dr. Awang Haji Mohd Amin Liew bin Abdullah, Minister at the Prime Minister's Office and Second Minister of Finance and Economy. The United States is hosting Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation, APEC 2023 under the theme of “Creating a Resilient and Sustainable Future for All."
