Museums Department Hosted 'My Museums, My Heritage' Programme

In a bid to introduce museums and galleries under the jurisdiction of Museums Department, a programme dubbed 'MuziumKu, WarisanKu' (My Museums, My Heritage) has recently been launched in March 2016. The programme is dedicated to students from four different primary schools across the Sultanate.

 

Museums Department has taken a positive step in disseminating information pertaining to the significance of preserving national's heritage in which school children will have a better understanding on such initiatives.

 

Apart from organising a briefing on the titular theme which was delivered by Academic Services Officer Awg Hj Mahrin Hj Abas, students have also been exposed to several traditional games such as 'Pasang', 'Congkak', 'Simban', 'Salok-Salokan', 'Buah Lapas', 'Bilun', 'Kuit', 'Kaki Tiga', and many more. In addition to this, Museums Department has also provided the children with insightful publications for them to learn more about the all things history.

 

Until April 12 2016, a total of eleven primary schools with 694 students have participated in the programme thus enabling them to understand even further on methods and approach in playing the traditional games.
