The strangely enchanting picture appears to show the boats floating in the sky, and highlights just how confusing perspective can be.

The angle of the picture, taken in Chicago, makes it seem like the boats are above the land where a crowd of people have gathered.

It was posted on Reddit, where one user summed it up beautifully by writing: ‘It’s not that confusing, there are a bunch of boats floating in the sky. Seems pretty straightforward.’

Another suggested the open water was in fact a giant wall with boats nailed to it like trophy animal heads.
