Ever heard the expression, ‘Work smarter, not harder?’
Well, nobody exemplifies that better than TikToker Brittany Nash, who revealed why her must-have car accessory is… a pair of kitchen tongs.
Yes, you might usually turn to tongs for flipping bacon, or tossing salads, but it turns out, they’re great for when you’re on the road too.
The Australian, who describes herself as ‘notoriously a really bad driver,’ explained why she can’t leave home without the baby pink tongs.
‘Whenever someone new comes into my car, they’re always like, ‘Why do you have tongs in your car?’ she began.
‘You know, when you come up to those boom gates [barriers] for the car park and they’ve got a little ticket machine, I can never get close enough to the ticket machine without my handy dandy little tongs.’
The content creator then proceeded to demonstrate how she uses the tongs to reach the ticket machine, admitting that the driver behind ‘always laughs’ at her.
‘I’ve watched them in the rearview mirror,’ she added. ‘But, you know what, I’d rather be that weirdo with the tongs who’s, you know, lowkey kind of smart, than that person who’s doing this,’ she says, before miming faffing about at the car window.
The TikToker then ended the video with a rallying cry: ‘Tongs for life!’
As for the comments, a lot of TikTok users couldn’t get over the ingenuity of the hack, with many branding the driver a ‘genius.’
‘As someone who’s short, this is genius,’ @lenasdoingthings wrote. ‘I was going to make fun of the tongs but that is kind of smart,’ @neilbirdman added.
