But thanks to YouTube stars the Slow Mo Guys, we can now revel in the weird slowed-down beauty of an artificially created fire tornado.

Using a metal tin full of kerosene surrounded by 12 box fans – Gavin Free and Daniel Gruchy recreated the very rare fire tornado, sometimes known as a fire devil or firenado.

Firenados can occur during forest fires, oil fire and even earthquakes where rising heat and unstable wind conditions combine to form swirling eddies taking on the structure of a tornado.
