​His Majesty Sultan Haji Hassanal Bolkiah Mu'izzaddin Waddaulah ibni Al-Marhum Sultan Haji Omar 'Ali Saifuddien Sa'adul Khairi Waddien, Sultan and Yang Di-Pertuan of Brunei Darussalam attended the 'Majlis Istiadat Akad Nikah Diraja' or Royal Akad Nikah Ceremony of His Majesty's son, His Royal Highness Prince 'Abdul Mateen and Yang Mulia Dayang Anisha Rosnah binti Adam. The ceremony was held at the Omar Ali Saifuddien Mosque in the capital, 11th January afternoon. The arrival of His Majesty and members of the Royal Family was preceded by the Penglima Diraja carrying the Pemuras and Karga, as well as the Penglima Asgar carrying the Kelasak and Kampilan, accompanied by bearers of the Alat-Alat Perhiasan Tunggal, Perhiasan Empat Duli Yang Teramat Mulia-Duli Yang Teramat Mulia and Perhiasan Empat Duli-Duli Wazir. Also present were His Royal Highness Prince Haji Al-Muhtadee Billah, the Crown Prince; His Royal Highness Prince 'Abdul Malik; His Royal Highness Prince Mohamed Bolkiah; His Royal Highness Prince Haji Sufri Bolkiah; and His Royal Highness Prince Haji Jefri Bolkiah.

Upon arriving, His Majesty was greeted by Yang Amat Mulia Pengiran Indera Setia Diraja Sahibul Karib Pengiran Anak Haji Idris, and Yang Berhormat Pehin Udana Khatib Dato Paduka Seri Setia Ustaz Haji Awang Badaruddin.

His Majesty proceeded to the designated seat, along with other members of the Royal Family.

The arrival of His Royal Highness Prince 'Abdul Mateen was preceded by 40 Sinipit carried by Awang-Awang, two Hulubalang namely Hulubalang Diraja carrying the Pemuras and Karga, and Hulubalang Asgar carrying the Kelasak and Kampilan, as well as a Dian Tunggal carried by an Awang-Awang. These were followed by the Perhiasan Empat Duli Yang Teramat Mulia accompanied by the delegation under command, followed by Royal Regalia carried by Awang-Awang comprising 16 Pedang and Perisai, 16 Tumbak Bendarangan and 8 Kabok and Panastan. Upon arrival, His Royal Highness was greeted by Yang Amat Mulia Pengiran Indera Setia Diraja Sahibul Karib; and Yang Berhormat Pehin Udana Khatib.

Yang Berhormat Pehin Orang Kaya Johan Pahlawan Dato Seri Setia Haji Awang Adanan informed Yang Amat Mulia Pengiran Indera Setia Diraja Sahibul Karib that the 'Istiadat Akad Nikah Diraja' was ready. His Majesty then instructed for the ceremonial proceedings to commence.

The Akad Nikah Diraja was officiated by Yang Berhormat Yang Berhormat Pehin Orang Kaya Paduka Seri Utama Dato Paduka Seri Setia Haji Awang Salim. This was followed by the 'Istiadat Akad Nikah Diraja.'

As soon as the Lafaz Qabul recited by His Royal Highness was confirmed, 17 cannon shots were fired to signify that the 'Istiadat Akad Nikah Diraja' had been duly completed. His Royal Highness Prince 'Abdul Mateen then signed the Borang Nikah or marriage solemnisation form, followed by Yang Berhormat Pehin Orang Kaya Paduka Seri Utama Dato Paduka Seri Setia Haji Awang Salim and four witnesses. Doa Selamat was read by Yang Berhormat Pehin Udana Khatib.

His Royal Highness Prince 'Abdul Mateen then menjunjung ziarah His Majesty and other members of the Royal Family. His Royal Highness also received junjung ziarah from Yang Mulia Awang Adam bin Abdullah. Yang Berhormat Pehin Orang Kaya Johan Pahlawan informed Yang Amat Mulia Pengiran Indera Setia Diraja Sahibul Karib that the ceremony had been duly carried out.

His Majesty and other members of the Royal Family then departed the ceremony.
