Indonesian President Joko Widodo (Jokowi), on Tuesday, officiated the Purwodadi-Wirosari-Blora road section in Central Java that was repaired in accordance with the Presidential Instruction for Regional Roads.
"This afternoon, I officiated the implementation of the Presidential Instruction for the Purwodadi-Wirosari-Blora-Wulung to Klatak and Randublatung to Getas roads in Blora District using the budget from the Regional Road Presidential Instruction," he remarked at the inauguration that was accessed from the Presidential Secretariat YouTube Channel.
Jokowi detailed that the Regional Road Presidential Instruction budget for the repair and construction of national roads in 2023 amounted to Rp14.6 trillion (US$934 million).
Specifically for Central Java Province, the government has budgeted Rp1.36 trillion (US$87 million) to repair and build 40 roads, while Blora District received a road repair budget of Rp257 billion (US$16 million).
According to the president, the benefit of this road repair could be immediately felt by the public since the road had been bumpy for years.
"The budget for Blora District is quite huge, around Rp257 billion. The road is now smoother. For years, the road was always bumpy because of the rough soil," he remarked.
The head of state noted that repairs to the Purwodadi-Blora road section were conducted by building with concrete rather than using asphalt.
"Even though the cost is more expensive, we choose concrete because it is more durable," he remarked.
On his second day of working visit to Central Java, Jokowi also inspected the Surakarta-Gemolong (Sragen)-Purwodadi road section, visited the Toroh 1 Puskesmas (community health center) at Grobogan, and handed over three thousand land certificates for residents in Grobogan District.
Coordinating Minister for Human Development and Culture, Muhadjir Effendy; Minister of Public Works and Public Housing (PUPR) Basuki Hadimuljono; Minister of Health Budi Gunadi Sadikin; and Central Java Acting Governor Nana Sudjana also accompanied the president during the working visit.
