Brunei Darussalam's 40th National Day celebration began with the Kesyukuran Ceremony, mass Fardu Maghrib and Isya' prayers, the reading of Surah Yasin as well as Doa Kesyukuran at all mosques, suraus and religious halls nationwide. His Royal Highness Prince Haji Al-Muhtadee Billah ibni His Majesty Sultan Haji Hassanal Bolkiah Mu’izzaddin Waddaulah, the Crown Prince and Senior Minister at the Prime Minister's Office joined the country's citizens and residents in performing the mass Fardu Maghrib and Isya' prayers as well as reading of Surah Yaasin and Doa Kesyukuran at the Omar 'Ali Saifuddien Mosque in the capital.

Upon arrival, His Royal Highness was greeted by Yang Berhormat Dato Seri Setia Awang Haji Nazmi bin Haji Mohamad, Minister of Culture, Youth and Sports as Chairman of the celebration's executive committee; Yang Berhormat Pehin Udana Khatib Dato Paduka Seri Setia Ustaz Haji Awang Badaruddin bin Pengarah Dato Paduka Haji Awang Othman, Minister of Religious Affairs; and Yang Berhormat Pehin Datu Lailaraja Retired Major General Dato Paduka Seri Haji Awang Halbi bin Haji Mohd Yussof, Minister at the Prime Minister's Office, as well as the celebration's committee members. Also in attendance was His Royal Highness' brother, His Royal Highness Prince 'Abdul Malik.

The mass Fadhu Maghrib prayer was led by Yang Berhormat Pehin Orang Kaya Paduka Seri Utama Dato Paduka Seri Setia Haji Awang Salim bin Haji Besar.

Yang Berhormat Pehin Orang Kaya Paduka Seri Utama Dato Paduka Seri Setia Haji Awang Salim also led the mass Sunat Hajat prayer.

Meanwhile, the reading of Surah Yasin was led by Yang Berhormat Pehin Orang Kaya Paduka Seri Utama Dato Paduka Seri Setia Haji Awang Salim.

Doa Kesyukuran was read by Yang Berhormat Pehin Orang Kaya Paduka Seri Utama Dato Paduka Seri Setia Haji Awang Salim.

Meanwhile, the mass Fardu Isya' prayer was led by Yang Dimuliakan Begawan Pehin Khatib Dato Paduka Haji Awang Mustafa bin Haji Murat.

Such a ceremony was held to express gratitude towards Allah Subhanahu Wata'ala for the blessings and peace bestowed upon the nation as well as the well-being of the country's people.
