BANDAR SERI BEGAWAN

Prosecuters secured a remand order on a Malaysian couple from the Magistrate's Court based on allegations that the defendants cheated people and made them part with their cars, 42 in total.

Wogn Soon Teck and Rannie Labu were arrested on the late afternoon of November 18 by the CID police in Miri, Sarawak.

DPP Amiriah Ali informed Chief Magistrate Muhammed Faisal bin Pehin Dato Kefli that more investigations need to be conducted into the case considering the gravity of the offence.

Yesterday, the prosecution initially charged the duo with cheating a car rental company manager on April 2 and July 31, 2015 into believing that they were genuine customers looking to rent two cars.

The court adjourned the case to November 26 and remanded the duo at the Muara Police Station.
