UNITED STATES

An American has shared some of the things that disgusted her most since moving to the UK. It's been quite the culture shock, and some of the most baffling things to her have been crumpets and Nando's

We may share the same language, but one American woman isn't too impressed with how we do things across the pond.

The UK is an ideal place to live for many. We make the best cuppas and fish and chips, have beautiful castles and the NHS. But it's certainly not ideal for everyone, and one woman who moved from America two years ago has shared some of the things she hates most about living in the UK.

The woman says "so many things in the UK confuse me," and she particularly has a gripe with crumpets, Nando's and portion sizes. She went viral on TikTok for some of the reasons that have made her want to move back across the Atlantic.

In a recent light-hearted video, she shared "strange things I have noticed since living in the UK which I've had to put up with and why I really want to leave". She then filmed a sign for the Heathrow Express train, and continued: "All British airports pretend to be in London, but when you arrive you need to take trains which actually take hours to get to London."

She then filmed crumpets in the bread aisle of a supermarket, and said: "All British style bread in the grocery store here has massive holes on the top of it meaning when you put your butter or toppings on it they fall inside the bread, causing problems"

Next, she claimed that "all British teenagers have their first dates in this strange restaurant called Nando's so when you go it's always full of naughty kids on their cellphones making loads of noise, causing chaos." In a separate video, she also claimed that the restaurants have "free sauces but they are all so unhygienic as everyone uses the same bottle, which never gets cleaned".

Another gripe she had was with the "portion sizes" which she said are "really tiny". Taking another swipe at Nando's, she said "Nando's is the most overhyped restaurant in the world as the food is always burnt and all the sauces are so gross."

Continuing to explain things that annoy her about the UK, she added: "Theft is a huge and serious problem here, especially in all British grocery stores. It's so bad that they even have to put security tags on the shopping carts, otherwise they will get stolen."

Lastly, the American filmed a pedestrian crossing and said: "All cars and trucks have to stop by law at these annoying chequered style crossing points which slows traffic down and causes major traffic crashes and accidents."

Baffled by the American's observations, many Brits took to the comment section to defend the country. One person wrote: "So you have a problem with theft but not people getting shot in America every day," another quipped: "No gun crime though …. That's a little more serious in the US than sharing a bottle of Nando's sauce."

Someone else wrote: "Nando's was literally the only thing edible and not overpriced when I was in London for four days they need it in USA," while another blasted: "Leave then."
