Brunei Darussalam Central Bank, BDCB has been made aware of the recent footage alleging unauthorised fund transfers from an individual's bank account which has since gone viral on various social media platforms across the country.

BDCB would like to assure the public that we are working closely with the relevant authorities and parties and, if necessary, will act accordingly to minimise any impact this issue may have on the bank's clients and the financial sector as a whole. Ensuring Brunei Darussalam's financial stability and safeguarding its financial system is of utmost importance to BDCB. This includes instilling public confidence and protecting public interest. In fulfilling its mandate, BDCB implements necessary policies and measures to strengthen the banks' and financial institutions' risk management and internal controls.

As our financial sector continues to embrace technology, BDCB emphasises the importance of identifying, assessing, and mitigating technological and related risks. To this end, banks and financial institutions are expected to strengthen the security of their systems. BDCB will not hesitate to take appropriate action against any bank and financial institution that contravenes its rules and requirements. At the same time, BDCB seeks the public's cooperation to use digital banking responsibly by always keeping their personal and financial information safe and securing their smart devices.

Public may contact the BDCB Financial Consumer Issues at 8380007 during office hours or email '[email protected]' if complaints lodged to financial institutions are not resolved satisfactorily, or make a report with the Royal Brunei Police Force if they have fallen victim to fraudulent activities.
