BANDAR SERI BEGAWAN

The Hassanal Bolkiah Boys Arabic Secondary School (SMALHB) celebrated its top students of Pra U1 1437H/2016 during a prize presentation ceremony held at the Al-Azkiyaa Hall, SMALHB.

Some 90 students excelled in the Brunei Religious Education Higher Certificate (STPUB) 2016 and BC-GCE AS' Level 2016 qualifying exams and received Bilatini (Platinum), Zahabi (Gold), Fiddhi (Silver), Berunzi (Bronze) awards and certificates.

The awards were presented by the guest of honour, Acting Assistant Director of Learning Institutes at the Islamic Studies Department, Ustaz Haji Shamsol bin Haji Omar.

According to the Acting Principal, Ustazah Hajah Norjainah binti Haji Buntar, four students received Platinum awards, two students received Gold, three received Silver, and two received Bronze. These students are those who excelled in the Pre-STPUB stream. While in the STPUB stream alone, four students received Platinum, 11 received Gold, 24 received Silver, and 23 received Bronze. In the BC-GCE 'AS' Level, three received Silver, 14 received Bronze, and no gold or silver.

The guest of honour in his speech congratulated all the students who received awards, saying that their achievement is a source of pride for the officers and teachers as well as the result of the students' determination and hard work in their studies.

"Indeed, the success celebrated today is the result of cooperation between students, teachers and parents. This achievement is a gift that is priceless for teachers and parents. The students should be grateful and happy for their efforts that have paid off with the awards they received today."

He also advised for the students be nearer to Allah the Almighty, be patient and strong when facing the struggles and obstacles in achieving success. He added that they should not give up easily and increase the quality of their studies, because higher learning of quality ensures a brighter future, as well as refrain from negative habits such as smoking, truancy, bullying and other habits that can lead to destruction.

The presentation ceremony was then enlivened by a Tausyeh performance by the Syababul AlQuran Club, and concluded with a Doa Selamat recited by Ustaz ElSayed Abdel Kadir Zaghloul.
