BANDAR SERI BEGAWAN

Bandar Seri Begawan (BSB) Arabic Preparatory School yesterday held its third Haflut Takharruj (convocation) to mark the graduation of 375 of its Year 6 students, and the award presentation to the top Year 5 and Year 6 pupils.

Held at the Jerudong Park Amphitheatre, the event saw Deputy Permanent Secretary at the Ministry of Religious Affairs Haji Harun bin Haji Junid attending as guest of honour.

Also present were BSB Arabic Preparatory School Principal Ustazah SarimahbintiHaji Ahmad, teachers, staff and parents of the celebrated students.

The ceremony began with the recitation of verses from the Al-Quran by Dayangku Aiman Widad binti Pengiran Haji Md Hisamudin.

In his speech, the deputy permanent secretary highlighted that the school-implemented `Successful Mathematics With Mom and Dad Programme' was an excellent move as it helps develop student interest in the subject, while at the same time providing positive value towards increasing the efficiency of teaching and learning particularly in enhancing the quality of education.

"This marks the beginning of a new chapter in the lives of these students - to pursue their studies at the secondary level and then, to a higher level. There will be many new challenges you will have to endure in handling the rapid development in the world. Therefore, a strong fighting spirit and faith need to be instilled so that students are able to face the future with courage and confidence," he said.

The event continued with an Arabic drama presentation followed by the certificate presentation to Year 6 students.

A Tausyeh performance was also delivered to further enliven the ceremony.

The day also saw the presentation of prizes to selected recipients of Year 5 and Year 6 - based on the different categories, including the best checkpoint assessment (CPA); best achievement in academics, co-academic and co-curriculum; good attendance; best academic achievement; best in Arabic and religious knowledge; best teacher's attendance; and best student of the year.

A Doa Selamat recited by Ustaz Haji Ibrahim bin Haji Sahat marked the closing of the event.
