St John's School in Kuala Belait recently held a music recital at its multi-purpose hall, seeing 20 primary and secondary students participating in both instrumental and song performances.
In his welcoming remarks, Deputy Principal T Ramachandran focused on the importance of music learning.
He said that to be able to play musical instruments was not enough as the students also need to understand the notes.
"Music is meant to trigger reactions, invite reflection, awaken feelings, activate memories, and touch the heart. Music has brought us together. Hence, there is the possibility that what appears as entertainment may also be a means of achieving insight or intellectual growth."
The two-hour performances included a solo instrumental performance. They performed under the guidance of teacher, Abraham Lativio.
