The provision of a holistic ecosystem covering various aspects of life is the focus of this year's theme of International Day of Families celebration. The International Day of Families is an opportunity to foster stronger family bonds and to further enhance the capability to overcome challenges and family-related issues.

The "Family and Climate Change: International Year of Family Plus 30" emphasises the need for people in the country to equip themselves with knowledge to deal with the impacts of climate change. Therefore, children need to be nurtured to care for each other; to love and care for the environment encompassing a cleaner environment; and to develop a sense of responsibility for family and society. Hence, living in a good environment leads to a healthy and prosperous family. Brunei Darussalam celebrates National Day of Family on every first Sunday in May since 2012. The core values of Brunei Families, which are "Love, Responsibility, Respect and Care" can foster the foundation for a stable and prosperous society.
