Man Sinks Ridiculous 180 Metre Shot In New Basketball World Record

Derek Herron takes the record breaking shot (Picture: YouTube/How Ridiculous)

There are some things that seem so unlikely that you can’t imagine them ever coming off.

This basketball shot from the top of the 180 metre high Mauvoisin Dam in Switzerland seems like one of them.

But it took just three attempts for Derek Herron, part of You Tube’s How Ridiculous to land the shot.

The group – Brett Stanford, Herron and Scott Gaunson – have been vying with American’s Dude Perfect for the world record of highest basketball shot.

And they manged to extend the existing record by 18 metres with the dam shot.

Herron, who broke the record, said: ‘It was a surreal moment nailing it on the third shot.

‘I watched the ball head towards the rim and saw the net move but still had my doubts that it went in until I saw Scott going crazy.’
