WORLD
For some reason, thousands of people are paying to dig this humongous hole and watching it live on YouTube.
To be fair, the live stream is strangely alluring – but we really can’t work out why people are spending actual money on this hole.
It’s a simple premise: if you contribute, they keep digging, and the hole gets deeper.
And there’s absolutely no reason behind it whatsoever.
The stunt has been organised by the people behind notorious party game Cards Against Humanity, who started digging their ‘holiday hole’ on Black Friday.
The company said: ‘The holidays are here, and everything in America is going really well. To celebrate Black Friday, Cards Against Humanity is digging a tremendous hole in the earth.
‘As long as money keeps coming in, we’ll keep digging.’
It’s as simple as that.
You might think the silly little project wouldn’t last long – particularly when each dollar donated pays for half a second of digging time – but you’d be much mistaken.
That’s because, somehow, $83,000 (£66,000) has been raised so far, and the dig is set to run well into Sunday.
So what happens if the hole gets so deep it strikes hot magma?
‘At least then we’d feel something’, the company helpfully tells us.
