BANDAR SERI BEGAWAN

The Magistrate's Court yesterday ordered for extending the remand of a Malaysian couple who faces allegations of cheating people making them part with their cars, over 40 in number, to make way for further police investigation in the case.

Wong Soon Teck and Rannie Labu were arrested on the late afternoon of November 18 by CID police, with a warrant out of jurisdiction, in Miri, Sarawak.

DPP Farhanah binti Pehin Dato Suhaili informed Chief Magistrate Muhammed Faisal bin Pehin Dato Kefli that more investigations needed to be conducted considering the gravity of the case which involves a
large number of cars and people.

The duo is now facing an initial charge of cheating a car rental company manager on April 2 and July 31, 2015 into believing that they were genuine customers looking to rent two cars.

The case was adjourned to December 1, 2016.
