TUTONG

Rine Asyhikin binti Rapfin from Tanjong Maya Secondary School and Amal Farahiah binti Abu Bakar from Datu Ratna Haji Muhammad Jaafar Kiarong Primary School were recently announced as champions of the National Jawi Spelling Quiz competition for secondary and primary schools.

The finals were held at the Information Department, under the auspices of the Co-Curriculum Education Department at the Ministry of Education (MoE).

The chief guest of the event was Dr Siti Sara binti Haji Ahmad, the Acting Deputy Rector at Universiti Islam Sultan Sharif Ali (UNISSA).

Acting Director of Co-Curriculum Education Roslin bin Suhailee in his speech noted that the competition hoped to highlight Jawi as an essential component in learning to recite the Al-Quran, and also as a part of Brunei's cultural heritage.
