His Royal Highness Prince Haji Al-Muhtadee Billah ibni His Majesty Sultan Haji Hassanal Bolkiah Mu'izzaddin Waddaulah, the Deputy Sultan, conducted a working visit to the Business Support Centre (BSC) of Darussalam Enterprise (DARe) in Anggerek Desa, Berakas.

Welcoming His Royal Highness' arrival at the Business Support Centre were Pehin Datu Singamanteri Colonel (Rtd) Dato Seri Setia (Dr) Awang Haji Mohammad Yasmin bin Haji Umar, Minister of Energy and Industry at the Prime Minister's Office and Chairman of DARe, and Soon Loo, DARe Chief Executive Officer.

The BSC was established by DARe as an action centre to facilitate and address the challenges faced by local enterprises.

It serves as a single venue for enterprises to access all key business-related processes and information provided by various government agencies including registration of company and business names, renewal of business licences, application for permits and licences, applications for industrial land and registration of trademark and patent, among others.

The BSC, through DARe's Business Help Desk, also gives enterprises the opportunity to share any issues or concerns or give feedback and suggestion on any business related matters, and it provides an avenue for enterprises to access information on small and medium enterprise (SME) assistance programmes provided by DARe.

Since DARe was established in January, 332 issues have been logged in, out of which 194 issues have been recorded at the Business Help Desk.

To date, about 82 per cent of the total issues have been resolved by DARe with close consultation with the relevant agencies. Most common issues shared include access to financing, confusion on business licences and registration, land applications and late payments, among others.

During the visit, His Royal Highness was given a short briefing pertaining to the functions of the centre and various services provided by the agencies. His Royal Highness also signed a plaque to commemorate his visit and signify the official operation of BSC.

A showcase of various SME programmes and services were also put on display during the visit including the Industry Business Academy (IBA) by DARe, a modular programme designed to suit the training and development needs of individuals and enterprises at all maturity levels to help improve their understanding, competency, capabilities and competitiveness with the aim to encourage effective and sustainable business growth.
