BANDAR SERI BEGAWAN

Chung Hwa Middle School (CHMS) girls were crowned champions of the National Basketball Inter-Schools Tournament yesterday after overcoming a slow start to beat Maktab Duli 45-41 in a heart stopping final at Batu Bersurat Basketball Court.

With a minute left on the clock, top scorer Heanna Yap Shi Shi hit a two-point dagger to help CHMS to secure the crucial win.

The forward finished the game with a high of 20 points.

Maktab Duli put up a valiant fight thanks to Angelina, who finished with 17 points.
CHMS coach Ang Sak Tiong said, "I am very happy with the team.

"Not only did we win the title, we achieved it without being defeated along the way. I am very proud.

"There is still room for improvement especially in the area of fitness because the players looked exhausted after competing in so many matches."

Meanwhile in the third place playoff, St Andrew's School defeated ISB 34-21.

The final of the boy's category sees CHMS face SOASC today morning.

CHMS crushed SMS 93-73 in the first semifinal while SOASC defeated Maktab Duli 76-66.
