Martabat Jalinan Muhibbah Malaysia (MJMM) president and army veteran Abdul Rani Kulup Abdullah received 13 stitches after he fell while bowling.
Abdul Rani said he fell while launching a bowling event at the Summit Mall in Subang Jaya on Sunday.
"When I was throwing the ball, I fell and my left hand landed on the metal bar dividing the bowling lanes.
"I knew I had injured my hand but I kept quiet although there was blood dripping," he told The Star Online on Tuesday.
Abdul Rani said he kept his hand in a fist until someone passed him some tissues.
He said he then went to a clinic in USJ Subang Jaya for treatment while the event was still ongoing.
"The doctor said the wound was serious and cleaned it but told me to go to the hospital to get the wound stitched and to have an x-ray done," he said, adding that he went back to the event for the prize giving ceremony and to give a speech.
He said that after the event was over, he went to University Malaya Medical Centre to get an x-ray and for the wound to be stitched.
"I received three stitches on the inside and 10 on the outside," he said.
Abdul Rani said his stitches would be able to come off in two weeks.
