BANDAR SERI BEGAWAN

Branch 'A' emerged champions of the Inter PEKERTI (Welfare Body of Police's Wives and Families) Branch Badminton Championship following a convincing 3-0 victory over Cawangan 'B' in the women doubles final at the multi-purpose hall of the Hassanal Bolkiah Stadium of Police Headquarters last night.

The pairing of Chung Shu Fu and Norazian emerged victorious in the first set 28-26 21-13 before the duo of Siti Isah and Siti Norasmah confirmed the victory with an emphatic 21-5 21-3 victory over the pairing of Dayangku Nurfaridah and Earini Mazuranna in the second round.

Branch 'A' completed the series in a 3-0 rout after registering a straight-set 21-19 21-14 win.

The inter-branch competition this year was organised under the supervision of PEKERTI sports chairwoman Hajah Suriani binti Haji Abdullah and deputy sports chairwoman Widiafalena binti Haji Surhan.

The main objective of the tournament was to strengthen closer relations among wives and family members of the Royal Brunei Police Force (RBPF) as well as encouraging a healthy lifestyle by being involved in sporting activities, promote unity, enhance understanding and cooperation.

Meanwhile, the winners of the netball championship were also feted with Branch 'B' taking top honours after beating AJKT 20-13 in the final last Sunday.

The guest of honour at the event was Datin Hajah Kamariah binti Haji Abdul Hamid, President of PEKERTI, who also presented the prizes.
