107 MSPSBS Students Awarded Certificates, Prizes

BANDAR SERI BEGAWAN

 

Some 107 students of the Paduka Seri Begawan Sultan Science College (MSPSBS) yesterday received certificates and prizes in recognition of their academic achievements during a ceremony held at the college's Auditorium Hall.

 

 

The certificates and prizes were presented by the event's chief guest, Hajah Hashimawati binti Haji Mohamad, Cluster 3 Officer of the Department of Schools, Ministry of Education (MoE).

 

 

Principal Cikgu Haji Ismail bin Haji Zainal shared that this year, seven students in Year 7 obtained results of 90 per cent and above in the Final Year Academic Review, 10 students in Year 8 obtained results of 90 per cent and above in the Student Progress Assessment (SPA), while four students of Year 9 obtained results of 80 per cent and above in the Year End Examination.

 

 

He added that this year, one student obtained a silver medal and another two receive bronze for the Queen's Commonwealth Essay Competition 2016 Award.

 

Another four students also received medals in the ICAS English Competition 2016.

 

 

This year, 866 students from the college sat for the University of New South Wales English Competition.

 

 

The college gained 329 Credit and Merit Grades, 76 Distinctions and 12 High Distinctions.

 


Four students were also awarded gold medals, indicating that they were the best in the country. The recipients were Saiful Anwar bin Asri of Year 8N, Sherilyn Zoe Lai of Year 10C, Natasha Cheok Jia Ming of PU 1 T1C and Cyril Chin Wen Jun of PU 2 T2P.

 


The college will continue to implement strategic plans and review academic programmes to upgrade the students' performances.
