MUARA, BRUNEI-MUARA

Pengiran Isteri Hajjah Mariam Secondary School yesterday held a ceremony to award students for their academic achievements last year, including good results in the Brunei Cambridge (BC)-GCE '0' Level examination.

The guest of honour, Commander Haji Norbahrin bin Haji Muamad, Base Commandant of the Royal Brunei Navy, presented the awards at the main hall of Royal Brunei Navy Primary School, Muara.

The event began with the recitation of Surah Al-Baqarah by a Year 10 Science student, Mohammad Azhar bin Haji
Mohammad Khir that was followed by a welcoming speech from the school's Principal, Cikgu Joanna Lim Jok Hon.

The principal congratulated the 87 award recipients from both lower and upper secondary of 2015, especially those who did well in their BC-GCE '0' Level examination, School Progress Exam as well as the end of year examination.

"We would like to see more of our students entering pre-university to further their studies. Now with the increasing number of higher institutions such as technical and vocational colleges, there are more opportunities for our students to pursue a variety of courses and they have a wider choice (of courses) to suit their needs," she said.
