JIS Bag Silver at Bowling Meet

BANDAR SERI BEGAWAN

Five students from Jerudong International School ( JIS) won the silver medal during the Tenpin Bowling 2016 Championship for secondary schools and colleges in Brunei Darussalam, the school said in a press release.

JIS were defending champions but fell short this year due to a shift in players with only one reserve player in the team.

After a steady start in the tournament, all four players, Arif Amir Hamzah, Timothy Lim, Aiman Effendy, Natasya Rafi and Akmal Effendy played their best performance for their third and final game, scoring an impressive 688 with the captain, Natasya Rafie scored 222 with a remarkable set of eight strikes in her final game. This won her the accolade of best female player.

Despite narrowly beating the third placed team by three points with an overall score of 1846, they were outplayed by the champions and won 2nd place medals for team event, while Natasya Ahmad Rafie received a silver medal in the girls category.

This tournament was co-organised by the Co-Curriculum Education Department and hosted by the Sports School at Utama Bowling last Monday.
