The ongoing police crackdown against illegal lottery operators in the district continued on Wednesday with a raid on a mobile phone repair kiosk in Tabuan Jaya.

The 4.30pm operation, which came about following a tip-off, saw personnel from the district police headquarters at Jalan Simpang Tiga descend on the kiosk located at a commercial centre along Jalan Bayor Bukit.

A search of the kiosk led to the seizure of a mobile printer, mobile phone, calculator, RM185, and a printed slip showing various numbers bought by punters.

A 29-year-old woman from Asajaya, who was manning the kiosk at the time of the raid, was also detained by police for further investigation.

When contacted yesterday district police chief ACP Abang Ahmad Abang Julai confirmed the raid, adding the case is being probed under Section 4A(a) of the Common Gaming Houses Act.
