Deputy Prime Minister Mr Somdy Duangdy called for tax officials to investigate the reasons for the failure to collect excise taxes from new business units.
Deputy Prime Minister Somdy made the request during his attendance at an annual meeting of the Finance Ministry held in Champassak Province on November 28.
He called for the inspection to address the talk of town regarding this collection failure.
Mr Somdy, who is also the Minister of Finance, also asked senior officials of the finance sector to make greater efforts to follow discipline measures strictly and penalize financial officials found to have neglected their duties.
“This work cannot be completed without the full cooperation of local authorities,” he said.
