BANDAR SERI BEGAWAN

Brunei's MMA fighter Mohd Nurhidayat bin Haji Abdul has underlined his ambition of competing in the mixed martial arts promotion ONE Championship after extending his undefeated record to three victories against Malaysia's Adam Putera at the Warriors Fight Challenge IV powered by Reebok in Georgetown, Penang, Malaysia recently.

The Busiido MMA artist won the fight via submission in 1:34 in the flyweight AM category.

Mohd Nurhidayat expressed hopes of making an appearance in the Singapore-based mixed martial arts promotion which is widely known to be the biggest of its kind in Asia.

The Royal Brunei Navy personnel was visibly pleased of the win especially after being given the opportunity to contest in the fight card for a second time this year.

Muhd Nurhidayat had earlier emerged victorious against India's Kishan Gupta at the Jesselton Fight League ( JFL) in September.

"It is not an easy matter for me and my team because we have to make preparations twice in a limited time," said Mohd Nurhidayat in an interview with the media.

The fighter faced a greater challenge when he was required stitches on his injured feet which he sustained from training a week before the clash.

He said that the unfortunate incident could have easily affected his training and performance.

Mohd Nurhidayat, who first appeared in the first Borneo MMA event three years ago in the Borneo Fighting Championship, enjoys pursuing a fresh challenge.

"I will not hesitate to respond to any challenges from future opponents in any championships.

"And I hope that there will be an opportunity to fight in the ONE Championship... that is my dream," added the MMA fighter.

It is reported that ONE Championship attracts over one billion homes in 118 countries with its popularity serving as an alternative to the world famous Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC).

Muhd Hidayat said that while he is humbled with the support he received there will be naysayers which he treated as positive energy to prove that he belongs to the MMA circuit.

The Brunei fighter advised those who intends to join MMA not to exercise their knowledge and the basic foundations beyond the confines of the ring and the gym and invited interested individuals to attend training at the gyms which provides MMA lessons in the country.

"You have to feel it on your own how it feels to be a MMA fighter. And don't ever be influenced by anyone," continued Md Nurhidayat.

"MMA does not make individuals to be bullies but it helps an individual to be more disciplined in their lives," concluded the
