A 37-YEAR-OLD local man was sentenced to 16 months' jail by the Magistrate's Court yesterday after he pleaded guilty to a charge of theft in a dwelling.

At 12pm on October 18 2016,Saiful bin Timbang stole a perfume and an electronic display picture from a house in Kampong Tanjong Nangka .

DPP Danial Kifrawi's facts of the case revealed that the defendant entered the house and walked away with the items, but upon realising that they were of no value to him, he dumped them on the roadside outside the house.

It was then at 1pm, the house owner experienced a power shut down at his house and went to check the fuse box which was missing two of its fuses.

He then checked his CCTV recordings and saw the defendant entering the house and leaving with the items.

Police was alerted leading to the defendant's arrest.

Magistrate Pengiran Shahyzul bin Pengiran Abdul Rahman presided over the case.
