Bangladeshi Nationals Prisoned for Vandalism

Bandar Magistrate Court yesterday sentenced a Bangladeshi duo to eight months' imprisonment and two strokes of the cane after they pleaded guilty to causing damage to electrical cables.
Monir Hassan, 25, and Abdul Karim Khan, 31, both labourers of LCY Development Sdn Bhd, were employed at the company's construction site in Jerudong Park Playground, DPP Danial Kifrawi's facts of the case revealed that at almost noon on December 1, 2016, the defendants, armed with a handsaw, went to the electrical room at 'Giant Drop' Berakas Power System jerudong Park Playground intending to cut electrical cables and sell them.
Monir sewed off the cables while Abdul Karim assisted by holding them, Their act affected the power system, causing a spark followed by a loud explosion and smoke.
The blast caused injuries to Monir's hand, A construction worker who was having lunch nearby noticed the explosion and ran towards the site, where he saw the defendants running out of the electrical room.
The defendants ran towards their nearby site office to treat Monir's hand.
On December 3, a LCY Development Sdn Bhd employee filed a police report, leading to the defendants' arrest,
Chief Magistrate Muhammed Faisal bin Pehin Dato Kefli presided over the case,
