Captive Kangaroo Fights Back Against Its Trainers Live On TV

Killer Willard did not appreciate being chained up (Picture: WKYC Channel 3/YouTube)

This clip might finally explain the origin of the bitter, long-running feud between man and kangaroo.

If you were one of the millions of people baffled by footage of an Australian man punching a kangaroo in the face, here’s proof that revenge is sweet – and in this case, very entertaining.

This video, from an American TV programme, shows that you should absolutely not mess with kangaroos, as one repeatedly attacks its handlers live on set.

In the glorious days before the big health and safety crackdown, the producers of The Morning Exchange decided that featuring a boxing glove-clad kangaroo named Killer Willard would be a good idea.

The move backfires spectacularly, as Killer Willard punches its trainer Irene in the face while dragging her hapless husband around the set.

Meanwhile, presenter Fred Griffith sensibly keeps his distance as he navigates a tricky interview while trying to avoid Killer Willard’s attacks.

Clearly, the kangaroo did not appreciate being chained up for a ‘comedy act’ – which is how it was described by Irene.

The marsupial barrels into her in one brutal attack, leaving her complaining of a headache.

The footage is believed to have been filmed around 1982 but has resurfaced in the last few days.

It follows the clip of zookeeper Greig Tonkins launching a right hook at a kangaroo’s face after it put his dog in a headlock.
