The Ministry of Sciences and Technology on Friday opened a new and fully equipped Renewable Energy Technology Laboratory at the Renewable Energy and New Materials Institute in Vientiane Capital.
The Renewable Energy Technology Laboratory has been built under the Vietnam-Lao Collaborative Project since 2014 at a cost of over 2.7 billion kip (VND 7.4 billion) and is a co-investment by the Ministries of Science and Technology of Laos and Vietnam.
The opening for the newly built lab took place in the presence of Minister of Science and Technology Borviengkham Vongdara and his Vietnamese counterpart Chu Ngoc Anh, Deputy Director of the Renewable Energy and New Materials Institute Bounchanh Duangvilay, Deputy Director of the Material Sciences Institute Vu Dinh Lam, and representatives of relevant authorities.
“The Lao side asked the Vietnamese government to provide long term training courses for 4 Lao officials. These include two for Master’s degrees and another two for PhD courses so that they can conduct research at the laboratory,” said Mr Bounchanh.
“The lab will not only be used for laboratory and research purposes by technical staff at the institute, but the institute will also conduct research projects in cooperation with other institutes concerned such as the Faculty of Engineering and the Faculty of Natural Sciences of the National University of Laos,” added Mr Bounchanh.
