NA to Hold 1st Plenary Session on April 20-23

VIENTIANE, LAOS

 

The first Plenary Session of the National Assembly’s 8th legislature has been scheduled for April 20-23. The meeting is expected to consider and approve several issues of national importance including the organizational and personnel structure of the National Assembly, the election of new State President and Vice State President, Prime Minister, cabinet structure and the appointment of deputy prime ministers and cabinet members.

 

The meeting will also consider and approve the election of president of People’s Supreme Prosecutor’s Office and President of People’s Supreme Court, reports on the five-year performance of the standing committee of the National Assembly, Prime Minister, President of the People’s Supreme Prosecutor’s Office and President of the People’s Supreme Court.

 

Vision 2030, Strategy 2025, the 8th five-year socio-economic development plan (2016-2020), a resolution on National Assembly affairs and a resolution on government affairs will be also considered and approved at the meeting.

 

National Election Committee’s report on the results of the election of the members of the national Assembly and provincial and Vientiane Capital people’s councils will be read along with the verification of the qualifications of the members of the National Assembly’s 8th legislature. The Secretary General of the Lao People’s Revolutionary Party will also address guidance speech at the coming meeting.

 

“This first plenary session is an historic event of national importance, which has significant political meaningfulness; reaffirms the unity and trust the people have to the leadership of the Party and government; and is the result of the implementation of the principle-based comprehensively renovation policy of the Party,” said Mr Koukeo Akkhamounty, a member of the standing committee of the National Assembly.
