Transport company SBS Transit has said in a statement on Sunday (Jan 1) that it has identified the assailant who assaulted three bus captains on Dec 31.
SBS Transit said that it had identified the assailant through the CCTVs on the buses and have given the footage to the Singapore Police.
The transport operator said that at around 1pm, the three bus captains — one driving Service 93 and two others driving Service 129 — “were physically assaulted in separate incidents by a Chinese male commuter who had boarded their buses along Bartley Road”.
According to the statement, the assailant slapped and hit the bus captains. “They have been taken off duty to rest for the next two days and get medical treatment,” SBS Transit said.
“We do not tolerate such uncalled acts of violence against our staff and we take a serious view of such acts,” the transport operator continued. “The attacks were deliberate and malicious and we will not spare any effort to ensure that the assailant is caught. We are working closely with the Police to this end.”
Meanwhile, SBS Transit has alerted its bus captains and traffic inspectors to be on a lookout for the assailant.
“We would also like to appeal to members of the public to assist by contacting the police if they have any information,” the company added.
According to the police, investigations are ongoing.
