Rimba Secondary Students Attended a Briefing on Nationalism

Around 200 Year 9 students of Rimba Secondary School yesterday attended a briefing on nationalism conducted by the Nationhood Unit of the Nationhood and Community Division at the Information Department, as part of the 'SINAR' Forum Programme organised by the Counselling and Career Guidance Section, Department of Schools under the Ministry of Education (MoE).
The event took place at the school's library.
The briefing yesterday started with the singing of the national anthem 'Allah Peliharakan Sultan' and the patriotic song 'Bendera Negara'.
Present to deliver the talk to the students was Information Officer, Awang Haji Dayang bin Haji Kassim, who highlighted on topics related to the history of Brunei's national flag, the meaning behind its design and colours of the national flag as well as the concept of the national anthem.
He also provides in-depth information on the procedures of raising and lowering the national flag.
The talk then continued with a brief video presentation on the national flag followed with quizzes related to the earlier topics for the students to win some exciting prizes.
The talk aims towards instilling love towards the nation, religion, monarch and country, hence strengthening solidarity, patriotism and nationalism.
