Some 60 Vendors Participated in 2016 Brunei Food Festival

BERAKAS, BRUNEI-MUARA

 

The Brunei Food Festival 2016, organised by the-Star Bugs Event Management, officially launched yesterday at the Indoor Stadium, bringing in around 60 vendors comprising of, among others, restaurants, fast food outlets and online vendors.

 

Present as guest of honour to launch the event was Dayang Mariam binti Ulat, Acting Director of the Youth and Sports Department (JBS).

 

The seven-day food festival - from March 24-29 aims to give small and medium enterprises (SMEs) the chance to expand their business activities during the school holidays.

 

According to the organiser, the event is an opportunity to create awareness of some food and beverage products available in the country.

 

One of the online vendors participating in the event also said that this is a good way for all the SMEs to participate and gain extra income, further adding that the response from members of the public is very welcoming so far.

 

Among the exciting activities that are taking place at the event include a magic performance and famous 'cosplay' of characters such as Iron Man and Transformers.

 

There will also be appearances of mascots like Hello Kitty, Kung Fu Panda and the like.

 

A marshmallow and cupcake decorating competition are also among the activities that will take place during the event.

 

The event is endorsed by the Ministry of Home Affairs (MoHA) and supported by the Ministry of Culture, Youth and Sports (MCYS).
